Frequently Asked Questions
- Who can be a mentee? Everyone who is part of a D&I network and broader LAB community can sign up to be a mentee.
- Who can be a mentor? We ask mentors to sign up if they have at least 6 months experience at BCG.
- How does Chronus suggest matches? Based on profile forms, Chronus uses a mentee's D&I network membership / allyship or topics for mentoring and business/functional practice area interests to recommend mentors who have stated they can support/have experience in these areas.
-
What are mentees expected to do?
- Be proactive in reaching out to your mentor and setting up regular catch-ups and/or specific discussions
- Think about what you want to get out of your mentoring relationship
- Take the first steps in making contact with your mentor and come prepared to your sessions
- Be brave in opening up to your mentor about your concerns and issues
- Schedule your meetings via the Chronus tool or Outlook
- What are mentors expected to do? Mentors are expected to catch up with their mentee a few times a year, and be available to quickly respond to mentee needs. Mentors should create an environment where any topic can be discussed, and understand what type of support their mentee would like.
- How long will I be matched up with my mentor? Ideally for at least 24 months, at which point you will be able to decide whether to continue with your mentor or start a new mentoring relationship. If for any reason a mentor is unable to fulfil this, you will be matched with a new mentor as soon as possible.
-
What should I do if my mentoring relationship isn't going well? We encourage both mentees and mentors to contact us if your relationship is not working well for you - we will provide our support and tips, or rematch you. Please also remember to complete the surveys as prompted so that we have a better understanding of how Mentoring@LAB relationships are going as a whole!
